Day Three
The weather today was gorgeous again. Temperatures were in the 70′s and 80′s, perfect for painting. After all the rain us Alaska girls had experienced this summer, (Broke the all time record for consecutive days of precipitation) this sun and warmth was a real Godsend for Jeanne and I.

Headed up to Mosier for our third day of painting we noticed the landscape begin to change. From the large conifers and lush vegetation found farther west to this it was a stark contrast. Golden clearings blanketed with dense, dry grass covered the rolling hills. Green trees and underbrush spotted the hillside with color.
We spotted close to a dozen deer that morning. A beautiful sight, especially when compared with our version of deer in Wasilla, Alaska; the large and awkward moose.
Notice the hazed atmosphere in the background of the above photo. The weather was not only perfect for painting but also wildfires. We witnessed the helicopter crews buzzing back and forth between hotspots and water sources while we painted that day.
We’re here! While scouting out the perfect painting spot we found a friend. Too cool!
Here is a little video taken from my painting spot.
Jeanne and I were immediately drawn to this scenic perch. It was quite the incredible vista. Springhouse Cellar Vineyard is located on a bluf or ridge overlooking Rowena Dell. The waterway in the above photo is the Columbia River with Washington State on the opposite bank.
Had a lot of fun painting with my palette knife on this one.
Below is the crew hard at work. From left to right is Elio Camacho, Michael Orwick, Jeanne Young, and James Mcgrew.
There are those amazing shades again. How cool are we!?
Oh boy,
This is just too much fun. Left to right it Brenda Bartel, me, Jeanne Young, and Michael Orwick.
Here is a video of the view we had while we painted:
My day was cut a little short due to a special date with family that night. So I missed the sunset which was pretty incredible I hear. Something about a double rainbow or some such epic-ness.
Oh well, there’s always tomorrow…
